Associate Designer

We are currently looking for an Associate Designer to join our team, with a minimum of 8 to 10 years professional industry experience, working on high quality residential developments. Experience of hospitality would also be of interest.

Our ideal candidate will have the following proven skills and experience:

  • A creative thinker, able to lead the creative process from brief / inception and create intelligent design solutions.
  • Ability to lead and direct a small design team.
  • Ability to communicate design ideas visually, have excellent English language skills, both written and verbal, and be confident in presenting.
  • Strong problem solving skills, an eye for design detail and materials with a good understanding, and ability to comment on, workshop drawings and quality samples.

This is a full time position and salary is dependant upon experience.

Middleweight Designer 

We are currently looking for a Middleweight Designer to join our team, with a minimum of 4 years professional industry experience in commercial, residential, interiors.

Our ideal candidate will have the following proven skills and experience:

  • A creative thinker, able to contribute to the creative process in order to provide intelligent design solutions.
  • Ability to communicate design ideas visually, have excellent English language skills, both written and verbal, and be confident in presenting.
  • Strong problem solving skills, an eye for design detail and materials with a good understanding, and the ability to comment on, workshop drawings and quality samples.
  • Strong technical knowledge and skills.
  • Ability to assist / review the work of junior designers.

Additional requirements:

  • Must have intermediate to advanced Vectorworks and InDesign knowledge.
  • BA hons Degree in interior design/architecture.

This is a full-time position and salary is dependent upon experience.

Procurement Manager 

We are looking for someone to provide support to our Furniture and Styling Team.  

This team is responsible for the design and selection of loose furniture, window dressing and styling elements for the majority of projects at Johnson Naylor. These projects include showflats and marketing suites, private apartments and small offices. The work is both interesting and varied.

Providing support to our Designers is essential to make everything happen in a timely and efficient manner.

You would be working with one or two designers across several projects at any one time. The ability to organise your time and communicate well is essential as these projects require a high level of attention to detail at every stage.  

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Product research – furniture, fabrics etc.
  • Liaison with suppliers
  • Managing and sourcing of samples
  • Ordering
  • Creating purchase orders
  • Fabric schedules
  • Cutting sheets
  • Delivery and installation logistics
  • Resolving aftercare issues
  • Cost Control / Budget Management
  • Budget analysis and estimating for fee proposals

You will need to be confident liaising with:

  • Furniture manufacturers and suppliers
  • Logistics companies – delivery and installation
  • Specialist suppliers (joinery, curtains, artwork)
  • Fabric suppliers
  • Building managers

You will have worked in the furniture industry already and will have experience of procurement and project management. A good knowledge of contemporary furniture and suppliers is essential.

This is a full-time position and salary is dependent upon experience.

Studio Assistant 

We are looking for a studio assistant to provide support to the design teams and assist the studio manager in the day-to-day running of the studio. The role requires an energetic, friendly, helpful and proactive individual who is used to using their own initiative, and able to prioritise and multitask effectively.

Key tasks

  • managing incoming calls, emails, studio diary and meeting room
  • coordinating couriers, taxis, deliveries and post
  • monitoring and purchasing PPE equipment, stationary, first aid equipment and consumables
  • travel arrangements and bookings
  • updating the Johnson Naylor website and blog
  • creating and compiling credential presentations and pitch documents using InDesign
  • binding and printing of presentation documents
  • adhoc project related tasks
  • organising CPD presentations and lunch if required
  • arranging and coordinating studio trips (local and international)
  • organising monthly studio catch-ups
  • managing of our FileMaker database
  • credit card reconciliations, checking and logging invoices
  • maintaining coffee machine and other studio equipment
  • arranging cards and cakes for staff birthdays and other occasions
  • general housekeeping around the studio to ensure it is organized, tidy and well stocked
  • assisting in health and safety and security management
  • other ad hoc tasks assisting the studio manager and partners

Key skills

  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • strong attention to detail
  • computer literate with strength in using Macs (InDesign skills preferable)
  • friendly, organised and punctual person with a flexible and professional approach

Salary

£21,000 – £24,000 dependant upon experience
